Metabolism [/məˈtæbəlɪzəm/, from Greek: μεταβολή metabolē, “change”] is the set of life-sustaining chemical reactions in organisms. The three main purposes of metabolism are: the conversion of the energy in food to energy available to run cellular processes; the conversion of food to building blocks for proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and some carbohydrates; and the elimination of metabolic wastes. These enzyme-catalyzed reactions allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments.

Communication [from the Latin communicare, meaning “to share” or “to be in relation with”] is an apparent answer to the painful divisions between self and other, private and public, and inner thought and outer world. As this definition indicates, communication is difficult to define in a consistent manner, because in common use it refers to a very wide range of different behaviors involved in the propagation of information.

Proposing a correlation between the alphabet and calories [a new method of communication]. Only by acquiring and consuming, thus digesting, the required letters to produce: words; sentences; is someone allowed to communicate. This is a time consuming process [choosing the words one wants to use, finding the letters from the vessel, consuming them and only then being able to speak]. Each letter of the alphabet has its own caloric value. This correlation between the alphabet and calories allows for a new manner of comprehending communication.
